NYS Implements New CE Rules
Any NYS licensed technologist should look at our current newsletter to get up-to-date information on continuing education requirements for license renewals. Those renewing their NY license this year (2010) will have to document 12 continuing education credits, those next year will have to document 24 credits and so on. The NYSSRS will monitor this change and keep you informed via this website. Remember that the annual conference typically provides 12 quality continuing education credits over 2-1/2 days. See annual conference details for this years conference information.

Some RT’sd are confused about the CE requirements. There are two groups of RT’s in NY: those registered with the ARRT and licensed in NY and the other group are those only licensed by NY. This new CE requirement will mostly affect those who are not registered with ARRT. This group of technologists never had to do any continuing education becasue CE requirements were mandated by ARRT. So for most RT’s in NY, your ARRT renewal will be proof of CE for NYDOH licensure. For the rest of the RT’s, you will need to get 12 credits ANNUALLY so you are able to show proof of CE the NEXT TIME YOU RENEW YOUR NY STATE LICENSE. So come join us at our annual conference – have fun, make new friends and earn your credits all at the same time!!!

Being an old tech, I was pleased to see the NYS incorporate ce credits to their program. It may help to promote mor local participation and provide support for local societies as well as a source of networking for techs in a tight job market.
