PDF Copy Available Here: 12.2025 Presidents Letter to Membership.pdf Dear Members of NYSSRS and our Esteemed Community, The Board and I hope that everyone is doing well! For those of you that attended the 76th Annual NYSSRS and 4th Dual RTANYS conference this past October, it was great to see you, and we hope that you enjoyed the event! We have already started planning for next year’s event and are excited to bring you another amazing annual meeting experience. I imagine that everyone had an excellent National Radiologic Technology Week (NRTW) this past November. I hope that your workplaces took the time to recognize, celebrate and honor Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy professionals and our essential contributions to promote a safe and high-quality patient experience. Thank you for all that you do, for every effort that you make to maintain your bar of excellence and going above and beyond for every patient that you serve. On November 8th, 2025, NYSSRS and RTANYS celebrated NRTW by participating in the ASRT 5K RAD DASH at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) parks in Saratoga Springs, NY. Our team’s name was “Image Wisely, Run Wildly – New York”. It was a beautiful Fall Day and a great opportunity for our members to get out in the Community to increase our visibility as Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy professionals. Thank you to all who attended! As we quickly approach the New Year, we have some important announcements that we would like to share with all of you: 1. 2025 Fall Conference Review: Thank you again for joining us for our 76th Annual NYSSRS and 4th Dual RTANYS conference this past October. A huge shoutout to all of our vendors! We had over 20 local, national or global vendors present at this year’s event. We would not be able to host our annual conference without your support. We look forward to seeing you all next year! Thank you to our speakers for your excellent lectures and keeping us engaged throughout the event! Please visit our Student Competitions webpage at https://nyssrs.org/Student-Competitions for a list of our student winners. Congratulations and a round of applause to all! A huge thank you to our Treasurer, John Tramposch, and President-Elect, Tabitha Sabater, for compiling all conference attendee CE documents and posting them to each membership profile. To reference your copy of this year’s CE documentation form, please log in to our website and navigate to the top right corner icon (see image to the right) to access your profile. The document is stored under “Membership Details” under the “Continuing Education” section at the bottom. This is also where you may find previous year’s CE documents. 2. 77th Annual Conference – Fall 2026: After reviewing your feedback from the 2025 conference, we are pleased to announce that the 77th Annual NYSSRS & 5th dual NYSSRS & RTANYS conference will be held again at Rivers Casino & Resort/The Landing Hotel in Schenectady, NY. In 2026, the conference will be held Thursday November 5th – Saturday November 7th, 2026. Please mark your calendars! Conference registration and hotel booking information will soon be sent to members via e-mail and will be posted on our website at nyssrs.org. Please be aware that next year is an Election year! The Board offices of President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Director, and Nominating Committee Chair will be open. Additionally, our 2026 edition of our Newsletter, The Imagist, is currently underway! Please send an e-mail to our Nominating Committee Chair, Robert O’Brien at rpobrien88@gmail.com, if you would like to inquire about nominations for this upcoming election year, if you would like to join a committee, or if you would like to publish an article in the 2026 edition of The Imagist. 3. Annual Membership Dues Update: In our continued effort to fiscally steer our organization in the right direction, the Board met today to discuss all membership levels’ annual dues. There has not been an increase in annual dues in over ten years. The Board is in unanimous favor of an increase in annual dues at all membership levels. Effective January 1st, 2026, the membership dues will be as follows:
The Board feels compelled to provide transparency and justification for these and any potential future increases to our membership dues. Speaking plainly, these nominal increases support the increases in costs NYSSRS incurs to continue providing the benefits you enjoy as a member, including: · Monthly Board meetings discussing not only business but current practice, legislative and encroachment issues. · Advocacy for the Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy professions. · Free winter CE credit. · Annual Conference with approximately 10 CE credits. · Multiple student opportunities from the quiz bowl, essay, and poster competitions, and ASRT Student to Leadership Development Program (SLDP) promotion. · Networking opportunities, including multidisciplinary connections. · Vendor visibility and opportunities to meet future employers. · Serving as a liaison to the ASRT, including two voting delegates at the Annual ASRT House of Delegates meeting. · Website for imaging professionals to access a wealth of resources and to view current and past CE documentation records. Thank you for your understanding of this difficult, yet necessary, adjustment to our membership fee structure. We look forward to being able to continue to serve you. 5. (AERTSNY) Annual Conference: We are excited to share and remind everyone that our Educators Chapter affiliate, the Association of Educators in Radiologic Technology of the State of New York, Inc. (AERTSNY) has their annual conference April 14th – April 17th, 2026, in Lake George, NY. Please visit their website for more information: https://www.aertsny.com/. As we look ahead to 2026, I am excited for our organization’s future. I am eager to implement changes designed to promote growth while preserving our organization’s history and mission. We are prepared for any challenges that we may encounter along the way. A tremendous thank you to the NYSSRS Board for a productive and successful year. Through our effective teamwork and tenacity, we will continue to accomplish much in the next year. I wish everyone and your families a Happy Holiday season and Happy New Year! Best regards, Kullen C. Bailey MS R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT) President of the Board New York State Society of Radiologic Sciences (NYSSRS) January 2025 letter from Our PresidentPresident’s Letter January 3, 2025 PDF Copy Available Here: 01-2025 Presidents Letter to Membership.pdf Dear Members of NYSSRS and our Esteemed Community, Happy New Year to all! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season shared with friends and family. It was great to see everyone at our 75th Annual NYSSRS & 3rd dual NYSSRS & RTANYS Conference this past November at the Doubletree Hotel in Schenectady. It is always heartwarming to see familiar faces reconnect and share new personal and professional experiences with each other. It is through networking opportunities, such as these conferences, that we collaborate and form innovative ideas to help our society continue to grow and flourish. I would like to extend my gratitude to our new and returning professional members, associate members, student members, and vendors who attended the event. Without your continued support, NYSSRS would be unable to achieve its mission. As I step into the role of President of NYSSRS, I am filled with a sincere sense of enthusiasm, appreciation, and responsibility. As a practicing radiologic technologist and radiography educator, I cannot help but think back on my first day as a student radiographer. On this first day of class, the program faculty gave us students some words of advice to thrive in the field of medical imaging: “Accept change easily.” These words have developed into a mantra that helps me grow through life professionally and personally, as the only thing that seems to be permanent is change itself. With the help of our dedicated team of board members, I am eager to instill these words of wisdom, while also balancing our society’s longstanding ideals, morals, values, and vision, as our organization continues to grow. The upcoming year will be filled with some exciting changes, professional development, and opportunities for us to advocate for our profession across New York State, including: 1. 76th Annual Conference – NEW VENUE Fall 2025: After reviewing your feedback from the 2024 conference, we are pleased to announce that the 76th Annual NYSSRS & 4th dual NYSSRS & RTANYS conference will be held at Rivers Casino & Resort/The Landing Hotel in Schenectady, NY. This year, the conference will be held Thursday October 23rd – Saturday October 25th, 2025. Please mark your calendars! Conference registration and hotel booking information will soon be sent to members via e-mail and will be posted on our website at nyssrs.org 2. Educational Opportunities: We are in the process of arranging a free online Continuing Education credit to be provided to our members. Information will be forthcoming and posted on our website. 3. ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting: This year, the ASRT House of Delegates meeting will be held June 19th – June 22nd, 2025, in Reno, NV. Our Delegates this year are me and Tabitha Sabater. Our Alternates are Courteney Oare and Robert O’Brien. As we begin the new year together, I look forward to working with you all to continue to elevate and promote the highest standards of patient care to our communities and to protect the general welfare of our profession.
